Sweater Season is a Go!

For weeks now, Fordham girls have been dying to wear their comfiest, most fashionable sweaters! Even in the 75-degree weather, sweaters could be seen around campus, ready to be worn. With the first few weeks of October approaching, it seems as though sweater season is a GO!

Sweaters can be paired with anything, and that’s why they are so easy and versatile to wear. Anything from jeans, leggings and skirts can be paired with sweaters. Even the dynamic duo of a sweater being worn over a dress can complete an outfit.

Here we have a body con dress paired with a knit sweater embroidered with sequins to add some shimmer! The look can be easily made with any body con dress, whether the dress is patterned or not, and a simple sweater on top.

Cutouts are always cute! Here we have a shoulder cut out sweater paired with a pair of leggings. When wearing a cutout sweater its better to keep it simple on the bottom, so that the outfit as a whole is not too busy. When sweaters go below your hipbone, it is better to wear those sweaters with leggings rather than jeans. Longer sweaters should be worn with leggings so that your body does not get swallowed up by the jeans. The more fitting look of the leggings with a sweater perfectly shows off the adorable sweater as well as your curves.

Here is a perfect example of how to match up a short sweater with a pair of jeans. Since colored jeans are in, pair a neutral tone sweater with any color jeans for a perfect outfit to wear to class, a day in the city or even just hanging out with friends.

The best thing about sweaters is that they can always be dressed up or dressed down simply by adding a statement necklace or a scarf. Also sweaters have come to be so fashionable yet, they have never lost their cozy comfort!

Sweater Tips:

  1. Roll up the bottom of the sleeves of your sweater to show off any cute bracelets and/or your watch. One or two rolls of the sleeve is just right, depending on the sleeve length.
  2. Add a headband, headscarf or a neck scarf with some sort of color/design to your outfit, when wearing a plain sweater accompanied by plain bottoms. This will add color and life to your outfit, causing your style to stand out even more!
  3. For a more classic, preppy look, add a button-down collard shirt underneath your sweater. Allow the collar to show over the neckline of the sweater and also roll the cuffs of the sleeves of the button-down up over the bottom of the sweater sleeves.
