Tell Me About It, Stud.

ImageStuds have been popping up everywhere for the past year or so – it’s on our denim, on our ears, on our shirts, on our purses, and even on our shoes.  So what’s so great about these bronze and silver embellishments anyway?  Usually associated with the punk-rock variety, studs have transcended all styles of clothing.  Whether you’re into the classic prep look or the laid-back style, studs can spice up any piece of merchandise by giving it extra detail with an edgy flair.

These fashion-forward embellishments are widespread, and can be seen in collections by Alexander McQueen, Christian Louboutin, and Saint Laurent.  McQueen’s knuckle-clutch, seen below, has been a major jumpstart to the studded trend.  The “Classic Skull Box Clutch” sells for $2,045 on forwardforward.com.  You can find these studded looks for less, not only on purses, but also on tops, shoes, and shorts.

Below, you can see a “Peach Studded Collar Top” that retains a feminine chic, but with an edge.  The blouse sells for $35 on windorstore.com.  When it gets warmer out and you want to show off those legs, go with some studdedshorts, which are relaxed, but still trendy.  The “High Waist Ombré Studded Bleached Denim Shorts,” as seen below sell for $21.00 on svpply.com.

If you want to put some spunk in your step, go with these great winter wedges, seen below, by Cotton On.  They are the “Becky Laceup Stud Boot,” which sell for $52.00 on cottonon.com.  Any of these pieces are sure to bring any look from basic to bold, so don’t be afraid to push the limit with these new-age buttons.

“Fashion is not necessarily about labels. It’s not about brands. It’s about something else that comes from within you.” -Ralph Lauren
